Green Hall, URI circa 1940

In 1949, David Baud’s grandfather, Gunnar Carlson, started his construction business known as Gunnar Carlson Construction of Wakefield, R.I. Gunnar’s company worked on small, residential home building projects at first but soon began building larger homes.

David’s dad, Charlie Baud, joined Gunnar’s company in 1954. Charlie’s engineering background was invaluable to the business, and his project management skills were being honed in every aspect of construction.

David began working in the family construction business as a laborer starting in 1972 during high school and college breaks. David learned framing, finish and project management from both his dad and grandfather. In 1986, he bought the company and formed David C. Baud Builders, Inc. He focused on their core expertise of new homes, additions and renovations, all done on property owned by others. Ten years later, the company name was shortened to Baud Builders, Inc.

Today, Baud Builders continues to serve the South County area of Rhode Island and completing high-quality custom projects for discerning clients.
